17-year-old ShamiOshun from California didn’t have a dress the night before her prom, so she decided to make her own. She went to the store, bought $15 worth of purple tulle, and got to work.She turned that purple tulle into masterpiece. She posted the masterpiece with caption “Proms tomorrow. This going to be a thread of me attempting to make a dress the night before,”
She had planned on using peeled faux diamonds she had taken off an old dress , attached them to the fabric and added a plunging neckline to embellish her look. She sewed the tulle pleats with a sewing machine and it took 5 hours because it divide halfway through the process, so she started sewing by hands. She shared her progress on Twitter.
“I have no idea what I’m doing right now just making stuff up as I go,” she wrote.
The entire process took five hours, she told BuzzFeed, and the results were stunning. When she finished, Oshun posted photos of herself in the dress, and it blown up on social media. When the California native made it to prom tonight, it turned out the dress wasn’t convenient frock in which she can dance so she altered it on the spot.
“I had to let you guys know that the flowers were too heavy for the fabric I used so I chopped the dress mid prom,” she continued sharing another snap of her dress. Tweeters encouraged her to audition for Project Runway, it appears Oshun is already on her way to building her own design empire.
