Family Listens To Late Daughter’s Heartbeat In The Chest Of A Teenage Boy: ‘It Gave Us Peace’ – Video


When Shawn Zimmerman heard his late daughter’s heartbeat inside another person’s chest, he couldn’t help but be at peace knowing his little girl saved a life. Katelyn a 14 year old girl and her younger brother Dylan L-eave this world in an mishap. This was a difficult time for Zimmerman family. Katelyn and Dylan were biking near their home Florida.

A d-runk driver h-it them which caused them severe wounds. Katelyn suffered brain trauma and she L-eave this world the same day. Dylan underwent four sur-geries but he too L-eave this world after struggling for life for a month.

Just three before the mishap, Katelyn was talking to her grandmother, Charlene Sweigart. Katelyn had told her that she would want to be an organ donor. Recalling the conversation the Charlene said, “I told her that I was proud of her and I’m an organ donor and her great grandfather was.

Three hours later, she was gone.” “That was the last thing she said to me, and I want to see her wish come true,” Charlene added. The family of Zimmerman’s was in pain but when they learned that Katelyn could save someone’s life, they agreed.

Katelyn’s heart could save another person’s life. This person was Albert “Alji” Jefferies. Albert Jefferies from North Carolina was just four months old when he was diagnosed with chronic disease in hear muscles. Over the years he lived a life with lot of restrictions due to his enlarged heart. By the age of 12, he had even experienced Coronary Infarction. Doctors had saved his life that that point of time. But later again Albert was in same situation.

In this situation, the only option was heart transplant to save Albert’s life. Doctors tried to match Albert’s heart and they found that Katelyn’s heart would match his heart. The doctors carried out the transplant sur-gery which went well. When Katelyn’s grandmother heard this she messaged Albert’s mother, Tina Turner. Later Zimmerman’s family met Albert and his family. It was then when, the Zimmerman’s family heard the heart beat of their daughter Katelyn.

Even though the heart was be-ating in another person’s body, the family was at peace. Katelyn’s father Shawn said “It put us at peace knowing that Katelyn’s heart is still be-ating even though it’s not in her.”Albert and his family too were grateful to Zimmerman’s family for saving their son’s life. “Thank you for the gift of being able to see more in life.” Albert’s family wrote the Zimmerman’s family.

Albert said “Thank you for letting me have a second chance. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being my miracle.”
