Billy Ray Harris, 55 year old, from Kansas City is homeless and lives on the streets. He holds his cup all through the day just to gather some money from the passer bys so that he can survive. One day, in the month February Sarah Darling p-assed Harris and she dropped some coins in cup.
Also by mistake Sarah’s dropped her engagement ring in his cup. Harris at first got tempted to sell the ring. He even got it appraised and found that the ring was worth $4000. However his heart didn’t agree to sell the ring. Ina few days time, Harris returned Sarah’s ring back to her. Harris said “I am not trying to say that I am no saint, but I am no devil either.”

Sarah told to TODAY in March, “We set a goal for a thousand dollars.” Sarah and Bill set up the fund page for Harris as they wanted to thank him and a lot of people were touched by his honesty. Sarah said “We set it up because a lot of people who had been touched by the story expressed interest in helping Billy Ray.”
In about three month’s time, a remarkable amount of $190,000 was collected by the help of generous netizens. With help of a lawyer, Harris has arranged to put the money in a trust. Not only Harris has been able to put some money for a house, he has also been able to get a car. He has got a part time job for himself. Harris now has reunited with his family who had not been able to trace him and had thought that he has p-assed away. Harris is now working re-establishing relations with them. Harris has met his nephews and nieces. His brothers and sisters appeared during his interview with Sarah and her husband.
Harris told to TODAY “When I think of the past, I think, thank God that it’s over. I mean, I feel human now.” People, who once used to drop coins in his cup, now come up to him and shake his hands for his good actions and appreciate his honesty.
Harris says “I still see some of the same people,” but only now, instead of coming up and giving me change, they’re coming up shaking my hand and, you know, saying ‘hey, good job’.”
From the day Sarah’s engagement ring came in Harris’s cup, his life has changed. In his words “This is what they call the American Dream. I want to thank all the people that helped me out. I want them to see where all their efforts, blessings and kindness is going.”

She wants to imbibe these traits in her daughter and other kids. She says “I’ve talked to other mothers about this. It gives other moms a real tangible story of really teaching kind of the difference between what’s wrong and what’s right.”
Sarah Darling is glad that she and her husband were able to bring Harris’s life back on track. She told to TODAY, “A lot of people came together to change this person’s life when he is someone who really deserves that, blessings and kindness are going.
