Mom Of 3 Facing Eviction Receives Over $200k In Donations After CNN Segment – Video

Due to epidemic, Dasha Kelly was out of job and she had back-rent dues on her for her home. Kelly used to work in casinos which got shut due to epidemic. Dasha Kelly in Las Vegas is a mother of three girls and she did not how she was going to pay the back rent.

Kelly then posted on GoFundMe page “We were maintaining just before this epidemic. Now we are suffering…Please help with anything you can.”

Kelly was facing eviction and after her post, thanks to so many strangers, Kelly was able to raise $200,000 for herself and her daughters. Kelly sat on the couch, one of the last pieces of furniture she had in her apartment. When Kelly was told that funds were raised for her, she was speechless.

CNN’s Erin Burnett told her the amount, Kelly said “I just want to tell everybody thank you so much.” Tears rolled over Kelly’s face. She was in state of denial for quite some time.

Kelly has three daughters, Sharon, 8 years of age, Kia, 6 years of age and Imani, 5 years of age. Kelly her and family were featured in CNN story which got aired on Monday about the federal eviction moratorium that ended last weekend. Kelly is among 11 million Americans who are unable to pay their rent. Kelly said “I had no idea what we were going to do.” She explained that she had started the GoFundMe page to raise $2,000 so that she could pay off the back rent that was due on her.

Within 24 hours of the post, they funds were more than $200,000 from over 2700 donors. As per Erin’s report, Kelly intends to pt the funds into savings for her daughters. These funds will also help Kelly to pay the remaining amount for apartment’s lease. Kelly says “It gave me a lot of hope. And I want to make sure I do the best that I can to help the next person that is in my same situation.”
